THE LAST TRANSPORTS

Back in Opuwo we immediately make preparations for our last major transport, for which Urs once again makes his 6-ton truck available. Of course we gratefully make use of this. But first we have a meeting on Thursday (9/1) with Rose Tjitombo, manager of 31 schools in the Kunene area. After a 2-month holiday, the schools start the new trimester. Normally, schools provide one meal a day for the children. Unfortunately, there is no food at all and it looks like the maizemeal promised by the government will have to wait a while. We decide to spend the last part of your donated money on the daily meals for the pupils for a good start of the year. On Saturday we provide a nursery school in Ehomba with ‘teaching’ material and food. They also have a vegetable garden there. We bring seeds to plant onions, corn, carrots, beets and pumpkin. Sunday we do the last shopping with Rose. She will ensure that these goods reach the places where the need is most as soon as possible.
Our last activities on Monday concern the ‘Soup Kitchen’ project. But more about that later.
