WE’RE ALMOST THERE

Just a few more days and we will reach Opuwo. Opuwo is the capital of Kunene, the area where most Himba live. In Opuwo we will do ‘your shopping’ and then transport it to the villages most in need.

The landscape we are now driving through is breathtakingly beautiful, but we wonder what it looks like on an empty stomach. Temperatures are now rising to well over 40 degrees. That’s pretty hot for us. But what must that feel like when you’re dying of thirst? Not a drop of rain has fallen for 3 years now!

The desolate desert looks surreal, but the reality is that this vastness also means that you are in one of the most remote places in the world and the help you need is often hard to find.

The Himbas will be incredibly happy with your support. You have now raised the wonderful amount of € 9,607.10. Very roughly speaking, this now amounts to around 12,500 kilos (!) of relief supplies. We cannot thank you enough for your confidence in our campaign.

Today is Sinterklaas. Would the saintly man ensure that we reach € 10,000 tonight? There is nothing else on our wishlist…
